| Hello, I am having a few issues with my recently purchased 800 (yay) and was wondering what might be the issue. Recently, I have been noticing oil spots and have tracked the source to the rubber tube associated with the air intake system on the bottom of the bike. It seems to be coming from there and it is not just a normal condensation or whatever would normally come from this hose. My buddy and I started taking things off like body parts and the seat to track it better, however, could not see anything further beyond the hose at the bottom with oil. There is also condensation on the front right V, didn't know if that would be connected at all. Anyone had similar issues or clues to what may be the problem(s)? Thanks, Jason | |

| Hi Jason from your message in the hello section your obviously in a very cold area in the states so external condensation would be expected at any time when the bike is not at full running heat and even then it would take a little while to go and would come back very quickly after being parked up due to temperature differences between the engine and air temperature. Is it just the front head? As for the leak, I am sure one of the members will come back on this when they get home from work today | |

| Are you sure the bike has not been over filled with oil?
I think you are getting blow-by at the rings which is causing to much pressure in the crankcase and in turn your leak from the venting hose.
To get an accurate reading from the oil, you need to ensure the bike is at full running temperature before getting the reading, not just warmed up for a minute or 2 and the bike must be in the upright position & not on the side stand!

| Dave out of curiosity if he thinks it is coming from a hose from the air filter why do you say blow by because of over fill, I not sure how the two connect. Dont get me wrong I am not saying your wrong because i know engines are your thing but I would rather ask so that at least we know. | |

Ok lets break it down a bit, Overfill/blow-by because it is an issue I have seen several times before that relates closest to what is being described. The "tube" that jlink0424 describes, I believe to be the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) breather hose, which would fit the description, symptoms and position as he described it. Hope this clears that up a little.

| So are you saying that the PCV(Positive Crankcase Ventilation) breather hose goes to the airfilter, sounds strange? | |
