| I was out on my bike today and have decided that the rider floor boards have gotta go!
I am sick to death of scraping at 70% of bends that I go around. I know the simple answer is to go around the bends slower but where's the fun in that.
I have wanted forward controls for a long time but that would cause a conflict with my crash bars that I will not take off the bike under any circumstances. So I have been looking at the crash bars today and would be able to fabricate some brackets very easily to push the lower section of the crash bars forward a couple of inches to over come the conflict.
Any suggestions or recommendation on forward controls would be most welcome. I don't want to pay silly money but I also don't want Chinese crap that rust after a week.

| Yeah I reckon you could be right, I cant justify that kind of money for them So it looks like it's back to plan A, I am going to have to fabricate some riser's for the bike rather than the usual lowers that people often put on. I have looked into this before and I could make these for a fraction of the cost so it looks to be the only viable option. I need the bike to be able to ride harder in to the bends, so I have to do something. The bike is great but I feel the ground clearance really lets it down as far as leaning goes. I reckon if I can raise the bike by an inch it would give me the clearance I desire. | |

| When you consider lean angles by adding an inch of ground clearance that would give a massive increase in lean angle before a scrap could possibly occur. I think you is on to a winner with that idea | |

| That's what I am hoping CC, if an inch of ride height is gained and consideration is given to the spring loading/compression available within the floor boards, I reckon I could ride as hard as I want in to most any bend without a risk of something horrible happening. | |

| Superdane came up with these on an earlier thread http://www.johnskits.com/
Much cheaper and they look half decent.

Thanks Ian, I have looked at these before but as quoted they move what you have, they are not a complete kit. Just the components for forwarding existing parts.

| But if you can find a set of stamdard mounts from an M50 from a bike wreckers it will still come out cheaper than the Jardines. | |

| That's very good thinking, I will have to have a look at what Ebay has to offer | |

| Resurrecting this topic as it's bang on.
I think my problem with sliding backwards on seat is equally to blame on the fact that stock seat is crap as it is the fact that I'm tall.
Forward controls are the way forward to me..I'm aching for more distance for pegs/boards.
As Dave mentioned, the kits are stupidly expensive so there has to be a way to get that done cheaper... the extending kit quoted above seems like a good alternative but I'd have to find/get done a custom set of crash bars that would allow it.
Either way...expensive mod, no matter how you look at it.
Anyone had any luck finding something else/better?

| You don't necessarily have to get a new set of crash bars. Simply making a pair of small brackets for the front lower fixing points of your existing bars will allow the ones you have to sit further forward. Very easy to do. | |

| As above, Or you could just put the Passenger seat back on and that will stop you sliding back, Or a rider back rest for added comfort. | |
