Replacing Clutch Cable VZ800 Empty
PostSubject: Replacing Clutch Cable VZ800   Replacing Clutch Cable VZ800 Icon_minitimeWed Dec 25, 2013 11:07 pm

I would like to replace my clutch cable before a big trip next year (just in case).

Has anyone done this?....... the connection at the engine end looks a bit complicated.
Is it simple?

Thanks and Merry Christmas! xt1

Do you have to remove the fuel tank? Looks like the cable sits on the inside of the frame under the tank....

Need to do mine tomorrow (it snapped today).

Dumb question time.....

On the Virago's I had, I had to drain the tank as when you took the hoses off the underside it all came out.

Looking at the removal instructions for the M800 it doesn't mention draining the tank. However, I would need to disconnect the fuel feed hose - which I am assuming will have the same effect (all my lovely paid-for fuel will come out...

Please correct me if I am wrong...

Cheers

Fuel will stay in the tank, completely different setup to the older yamaha virago

You'll get about a thimble full coming out so might be wise putting a rag over the cylinders.

Graeme a tip for taking the tank off, what I do is take the console of the tank first 3 small fixings, leave the wiring connected and place it out of the way towards your forks. Then when you lift the tank you have more room underneath to get at the petrol feed,it is easy to release by gripping the two lugs and pulling down,as stated by Sim you will only loose a small amount of petrol, the only other connection is the electrical plug to the fuel pump.
