Have found this exhaust restrictor on EBAY, a bit pricey but would be very easy to copy and make...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120997181032?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Bloody hell £99.99, thats one hell of a price. I would of bought it if it was a quarter of that price, which I think would be reasonable.
I am sure it would be easy to copy for the likes of you Nigel but not so much so for me. It would be a real asset to have on the bike for sure.

Arron it means that if you have a loud exhaust as I do, you can ride for a short while very quietly. For me that would be as I am leaving or getting home in the early or late parts of the day, so as not to annoy or wake the neighbors. Very good for the summer months when people around are sleeping with their windows open. It's nice to be nice.

That second valve looks like it would work well on bikes with a bolt on silencer like Kawasaki zx9 for example ..wonder how it works, after a year of exhaust soot ...
