| Couple of weeks ago, went to Oulton Park to watch historic car racing. Went on the Vic and decided a folding chair would make the day more comfortable. My bike has a sissy bar, but no rack, so I knocked up the attached in about an hour. Not the prettiest, but it did the job, and although its not on an Intruder, I thought I'd post it here in case the concept is useful to someone... I had a couple of pieces of aluminium roadsigns knocking about so cut a pair of side rails, drilled to match the holes in the sissy bar, then painted them black - the only stuff I had was Plastidip, but thats ok... Then I found a tough black plastic "bread crate" in a skip at Screwfix (probably from the weekend burger van)... The ends have moulded ribs, and luckily I found the distance between two of these ribs was spot on for the distance I wanted between the side rails. It means the pattern in the plastic isn't symmetrical, but for now, do I care? No! At some later time I may find some more ally to manufacture a prettier flat plate, but overall it's a great idea. TIP: I know a few people on here have asked for ideas for extending an existing rack, to prevent the dreaded "bag droop"..... a piece of this plastic would be ideal... it's black, it's tough, it's got criss crosses for bungeeing to..... oh, and it's free!! | Mal, I've got an M800 luggage rack kicking about in the garage, you can have it if you want to doctor it to make it fit. | |

wow, even better. Next you're in the garage if you could possibly measure the distance between the side rails on it, and PM me that would be great. cheers mate | |
