I bought a 'classic' style number plate for my 800 BOSS from these people. http://scooterboxclassicplates.co.uk/ .  Cracking service (next day delivery) and good quality plate for around £20.00.

Think they only bother if you try to 'disguise' the number, or you get a particular pissy plod.  Time will tell!

Looks bloody great. When I came up behind you on the m60 at the weekend, I genuinely thought it was an old bike (in amazing condition)!)

Hey And tell your neighbour to get those bloody Christmas lights down!!

Fit a legal plate behind it, if you get pulled over, just switch them.
