Hey fellow riders!

I'm a long time lurker and I finally ran into some issues which don't seem to come up in the search bar. I can/will cross post this to the engine/clutch section once I am able...

I have a 1993 Suzuki VX800. I've had it going on 6 years now! It was my first bike and it's been a real pleasure to ride and tinker with. It has made me deeply passionate about riding.

I had noticed some clutch slip recently and came across this amazingly helpful thread
https://www.suzuki800.com/t4213-clutch-replacement
Which has helped me tear down the clutch. I do use 20w-50 Mobil 1 synthetic oil which might be too slippery for my clutch, making it grubby but I wanted to check out the clutch and see how it's held up after 40k miles.

I went ahead and got all new springs, and plates, oil, filter, etc.

Everything went well while following these instructions but I've come across some odd abnormalities..

Once repacking the clutch and setting the B bolts/springs back hand tightened, I started on the A bolts. I noticed that once these bolts start to show resistance, they are not centered.. I pulled them out thinking they might not be seated right or I crossed the threads. I do it over and same problem. I take them out and notice they are slightly bent... Shit..
All 4 are bent but the B bolts aren't... OK...
Decide to delay putting everything back together until I get new bolts.

I get them in this week and install them after reSoaking the clutch plates. Put the new bolts in and I still see they are off centered! Like not touching the clutch holding cover but damn close... I decide to only hand tighten them a little as I sheared an old one off before noticing they were bent. Figuring they just were tightened to much before or something...

Put everything back together and it looks like the old gasket didn't hold even though I inspected it and it looked fine, I now have a leak coming from the cover..

So 2 questions.
What the hell is up with those bolts(the long ones referenced as A in the old thread)
And
What do you use to get old extremely sticky clutch  cover gasket off. Tried razors and its barely wanting  to come off.. Friend said lots of razors and brake part cleaner. Is there no gasket remover or something to speed this up.

Wasn't even able to see if this fixed my clutch issues, the old ones actually looked serviceable so all this trouble could be directly related to the oil which I'll try and remedy this next try.

Thanks!!

Haha ya I guess they have it set where if you're a new member you have to post here first before you get permission to post anywhere else. I ended up cross posting this to the enigne/clutch section!
Thanks!
