| Shit I'd never thought of punctures lol I'll get some of that stuff you put in the tyres just in case, mines done 5000 miles now so I'll be looking at new ones later this year anyway, then I'll go for proper ones, round and black seem good on eBay for tyres so I'll try them when the time comes. | |

| What the issue with punctures, of it damages the white rubber when the wheel is seperated from the tyre could you not touch that section up? | |

I would have thought so. I will have a practice on an old tyre at the weekend, firstly free hand but then with several different types of tapes. With all the varieties of tapes being peeled off at different times scales. When I do this I want a good job like Sim has done, not something that looks like a 3 year old has been let loose.

| Just been out trying out a few different tapes for the white wall paint edge on an old tyre and I gotta say that electrical tape came out streets ahead of the competition. It goes on very well, will bend to the shape of the tyre extremelly easily & sticks to the tyre really well. I was using Mr White Walls paint and tried peeling the tape off at different time intervals. I found with this particular paint that 7 minutes is the best time for an extremelly clean edge, due to the curing time of the paint. Now 7 minutes does not seem very long to paint the tyre but it is long enough because it is only doing the outer edge. The center and inner edge will be done afterwards. I won't be taking the wheels off as I originally planned to do this job but will instead jack the bike right up with my cruiser lift and just spin the wheel whilst painting. On another note I cleaned my tyres with "ProClean", which is the stuff I use for my dirt bike (really good stuff). I was surprised that It took 4 complete cleans and washes off, before the foam from the Pro Clean was properly white, which shows just how much dirt your tyres actually hold that is bedded in. | |

| Sim did you use the STP son of a gun & if so,how did you apply it as I am off to the shops to buy some in a minute. Did you apply it with a cloth or just spray it and wipe of the excess from your tyre and wheel? | |

Fully dressed apart from the screen, I lent that to a mate who is doing a long trip. I will have the front wheel finished but I will not have touched the rear tyre, simply down to time as I will be tramping all week and won't get back until Friday night.

Thanks Sim, I was a bit unsure about that. Certainly don't want to get any tyre protector on the tread, thats for sure. It would be like riding on ice.

| After buying new white wall tyre's earlier in the year, I thought I'd see how this white wall paint came off the tyre? Quite good actually, when you pull the edge up with a finger nail, It's like peeling a balloon off the tyre lol it does leave little bits in the grooves and edges, but nothing serious and easily removed. | |

| No mate, I've got a pair of Metzelers ww waiting to be fitted when the new inner tubes arrive, Yeah it's gone a bit discoloured now, plus my hands were a bit grubby when I removed the tyre, they come up ok with builders wipes though. | |

| Thats amazing how you have managed to peel it back all in one go and left the tyre like that, nice to know that. Could also come in handy for other applications as well because it peels away like that | |
