Introduction

Just a quick introduction, my first bike was a 1948 Excelsior, then passed my test in 1973 on a BSA Bantam Bushman, over the years had a succession of British Bikes, at the time you could buy a bike taxed and tested for a tenner, last one was a 1980 HD Sturgis, bought this in germany and did many reliable miles on it !! at the time was in the National Chopper Club, didn,t win any best bike awards but normally carried off the long distance award, came back to Britain and did a complete rebuild of the bike over two years and picked up about three best custom bike trophys with it, don,t have a bike at the moment as due to back problems this isn,t possible but still have a deep interest in the bikes, well, ride safely and watch out for Volvo drivers regards Doc Cox

rather than responding to any posts via the box below the post, use the "add reply" button at the top or bottom of the page. There are more functions for use and if you scroll down slightly you can ensure that the "notify me when a reply is posted" button is unchecked. If you leave it with a tick in the box you will get a bloody email every time someone posts in the thread, which is bloody annoying

You passed your test a couple of years after I did - those were the days -3 times round the block, quick emergency stop trying not to kill the examiner who jumped out from a hedgerow - 3 easy peasy HC questions and there you were straight from a 50cc pop pop onto a 1000cc monster if you so wished. I didn't get a bigger bike but went out and bought a 3 wheeler Reliant (DelBoy ) and taught myself to drive a car! Then took the car test and said goodbye to bikes..well for a few years when I became born again and now do about 8,000 a year on the bikes for pleasure and 5,000 a year in the car to take Mrs. B for retail therapy so she doesn't moan about the bikes!! - hey ho bike mad or just plain mad, that's me :bike5:
