Oil Filter Size

Having obtained a new K&N oil filter (complete with welded on nut... what a great idea) I went to give the old VZ an oil and filter change yesterday. Drained the oil, and then went to remove the existing filter with my trusty filter cup wrench (one that fits over the end) only to discover that my (Kawasaki-sized) cup wrench (from my W650 days) was too small for the larger (Suzuki-sized) filter.
Could I budge it? No. Resisted the temptation to bang a screwdriver through it (see another thread)....... so off to buy a new oil filter wrench. Got a strap-one from the local farmer's shop and........ useless. (Taken back). So.... a further trip to the local motorcycle shop to buy a Suzuki-sized cup wrench..... £7.50. (Watch out for that one on e-Bay!) Getting to be an expensive filter now!

I guess the point is.... Why is nothing simple???!!!!
By the way, TFM in Newport Shropshire are selling Morris semi-synth 10w-40 motorcycle oil with all the letters (Jaso etc) for £18 for 4 litres........ looks like an absolute bargain! Compared to the 4 litres of Silkolene I bought for £28 or so!

I have always had the same trouble even the easy jobs are hard when I have to do them.
