| So here's my plan. I'm going to fabricate a mounting bracket for the headlight pictured below. It's a 5" headlight versus the stock 7" headlight. I think it'll give the bike a more streamlined look. Then I'm going to convert it to a HID headlamp so I have way more light than the stock H4 bulbs. What do you guys think? | |

| Looks the part jambo,I bought 5" mini spotlights and they are brilliant. I mean spotlights from a mini car. | |

| Hi Jambo I dont know the size of the ballast for the HID,I would make sure you have somewere to seat it first.(unless you have already sorted that out)definately the way to go for night riding the HID mod. | |

| The ballast is a digital slim line. I have them in my car and they're tiny. Plus they have extension wires so you have a ton of mounting options.

| Ok, just bought this headlight. Same style but slightly bigger. 6.25" across instead of 5" across and it was only $50 shipped. I think it'll be the business once it's installed. Hopefully the weather cooperates next week so I can get it on the bike. Anyone know where to buy a bottom mount headlight adapter bracket that fits our bike? I'd rather buy one then make one. | |

| I also found a bracket that will work. Pretty cheap too. It available from US, UK and EU vendors. Model number HLB001. Got it for $20. | |

| Are you sure you got enough room for HID bulb? Remembers that the Hi/Low HID bulbs i fitted on my old car were much longer than stock one's. | |

Remembers that the Hi/Low HID bulbs i fitted on my old car were much longer than stock one's. I have the H4 mechanical high/low HID bulbs in my car. I think with this new headlight bucket there will be plenty of room. Look how deep it is. It's 8.25" from front to back. From where the bulb sits I estimate there's at least 3"-4" of empty space behind it and the H4 HID bulbs are 1.75" from the base to the back so they only need 2" of clearance. I should be sorted. | |

| I think I'll have to find a different bracket and modify it. The bracket that I posted is 6" across which would fit perfectly except that the front break line is routed through the bottom part of the triple trees. | |

| Looks like any bracket will need modification to fit my application so I'll just get the bracket I posted and notch it out where the break line runs. | |

 | Subject: New drag style headlight installed. Wed Feb 06, 2013 8:06 pm | |
| Here's the bike with the new drag style headlight installed. I wish it sat back a little father in, closer to the frame but that's not really possible. It's aimed a little high right now. Tonight I'll get it adjusted properly. Next up I'm going to convert it to 4500k HID. Here's the bracket I used. Since the brake line runs through the bottom of the trees I had to notch out the bracket. Luckily the bracket had a slot exactly where the line ran so I just made two cuts and it fit perfectly. | |

| Well the light works pretty good. Got it aimed properly and took it for a short cruise, even though it's 38 degrees F (about 3.5 C). Can't wait to convert it over to HID. Should be brilliant. | |
