| Hello! Just found this forum researching my new (to me) 2005 Suzuki C50. I have only spent a day here and have already found a wealth of information! Thank you! This is my first Suzuki...I sold my 2006 Yamaha V-Star in May of 2011 and have regretted it every single day since. I literally cried the day it sold. Yeah, I know. But I AM a chick, so we do that kinda shit. Thank you again for this awesome forum...I look forward to lurking and learning a lot here! : ) Cali Here I am on my V-Star :( Here is my new Suzuki VL800 | |

| Thank you all for the welcome! It seems the post I made this morning on my phone didn't show up, so I will try again.
Since I somewhat have a captive audience: Any suggestions for maintenance items that you would bring to a deserted island to maintain your bikes? I am going to be moving to the Marshall Islands in the next month and I am trying to think of what items are "must haves" for my bike while I am there. I already managed to put some Performance oil in the container, and I am looking into an anti-corrosive product that would reduce the rust...but any other suggestions?
Thanks again for the welcome and thanks in advance for any suggestions!

| cali grrl, what i do is after a good clean and dry take the bike out for a run and when i get back spray the engine with wd40 while the engine is hot it puts a coat of ptfe over the engine. | |

| Thanks for the tip, doobie! I've already packed some WD40, so that's good.
I did notice a few spots of rust already that I want to treat before they get too bad. Also noticed some pits on the chrome. Will have to take some fine steel wool to try to buff what I can out.
I know it will be a never ending battle to keep my bike totally rust free on the island, but I want to do what I can do prevent and preserve.

| use a good quality chrome polish, i would'nt use wire wool on polished metal. i use preet metal polish as it has no abrasive's in it unlike autosol. | |

| Hi Cali,
if the rust isn't too bad, try using a piece of klitchen foil made into a small pad and rub it over your rust spots, Like magic the rust goes away and it doesn't scratch the metal. | |
