| As you may have read (another thread) I was chatting to an MOT tester today about future projects I had planned and the question of lights came up & I said that I was pissed off with the lights coming on with my ignition and was planning on putting in a separate switch so that I can choose when my lights are on, as a few minutes will drain the battery and then you are going no where. Anyway I asked him if it was a legal requirement to have them on at all times as in the UK on 2003+ bikes they have no off switch to my knowledge at least. He said that as far as the MOT goes no running lights are required in the UK during the daylight for any year. So although I like to be seen I will now fit a switch to my lights so that if I can have the ignition on without worrying that my battery will drain. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just the side light that was on but we are running the side light and main beam form the moment we turn the key. I am always putting my ignition on and the wandering off to do one thing or another and the permanent lights on, really annoys me. At least when I cut into the wiring & have fitted a switch I can leave the ignition on for hours and still start my bike without any worries. I will do a quick how too, when I have done it, which believe me will be really very simple. | |
