| I know most people bypass this relay and just use the starter switch to activate the "main" starter" relay. However, Suzuki must have had some reason for using a relay to activate another relay. Even though there are known issues with wiring and connectors, the elimination of a relay cannot be good. The additional load is now being handled by the starter switch.
One of the previous owners already bypassed my SCR (starter control relay). I am in the car audio field so I removed the OE SCR and retro-fitted a Bosch type relay and socket. A Bosch type relay can be found just about anywhere (literally), so if the relay ever gives me trouble (which I doubt due to its very short use during starting), it can be swapped out in 5 minutes.
My relay even had a metal tab which I put on "upside down" so I could reuse the OE rubber mount. Worked out perfect!
How do I upload pix? I have some on Photobucket. | |

| Clever stuff. Re piccies, I dont have Photobucket, but if it works like Picasa....... If you go to your Photobucket page, can you right click the web address in your browser bar and copy it? Then click the little 'photo' icon above (just to the left of the LINK icon). Paste your copied info into that and the forum software will put image tags around it. Worth clicking preview to see if it appears as you expect.... ps.... you sound a very handy bloke to have on the forum | |
