| Hello.Have recently noticed the letters CHEC appearing briefly on the instrument panel.Happens every so often usually when doing around 40-60 mph.Made sure side stand is properley up .Any clues ? Bike is VL800 2007 | |

| This could be a fault with your engine cut out switch,it may need to be cleaned,this is on the right hand handlebar,Dave (Mr Intruder)swears by vaseline on electric connections,well worth a look. | |

| Sure do, Vaseline the one stop preventative medicine. The other thing I was just thinking of that might be worth looking at is the side stand kill switch. Give that a clean and then a blob of Vaseline inside. If it still does it after you have done the main kill switch as suggested by Alfie and the side stand kill switch try this: Get a length of electrical tape and temporarily wrap it around the side stand kill switch, holding the little silver push rod inside the housing. If this stopped the problem it may indicate a weak spring on the side stand, this would allow the side stand to bounce and temporarily kill the engine but not for long enough for you to notice a rev change. | |
