For anyone interested, I learned of this Kickstarter project for a motorcycle safety system (either a plate mount or module) that activates additional safety lighting when deceleration is detected (for instance, when engine braking rather than using the brakes.)
Since I'm new, I can't post an external link but if you're interested, search Kickstarter for Vololights.

Oh I didn't realise they were actually being sold at the moment, the site I looked on said coming soon. Thanks for that, I will get browsing for prices right now.
They aren't being sold at this moment. It's a Kickstarter project so they are looking for people to pledge money (which you don't actually pay until the project is official) so that the project can get off the ground.
If you look at the project page, they are just over halfway to getting it done. They need a total of $50,000 (US) to make this product happen.
Looks like a good product. Does anybody think there would be legality issues in the uk with flashing lights? I've seen brake light repeaters which flash but at a much slower rate
i fitted a brake light repeater which started of as quick flases and slowed down to a solid red brake light, worked a treat until the man at the mot shop said NO. so off it came

I'm not sure how they have them hooked up or where they got them but when they back off the throttle the brake light starts flashing.

Just re-install it once you pass your MOT inspection.

All you would need to connect is power. They are using a 3 axis accelerometer so it reacts to the change in rate of motion. Just gearing down and decelerating will activate the flashing lights and rapid decel gives you the whole disco effect. It doesn't need connection to tje brakes or anything else.
