| I really fancy those USA style permanently lit orange indicator lights at the front. Is it simply a matter of buying different bulbs ? (I appreciate that it's technically illegal, as permanently lit lights to the front may only be white, but what the hell) | |

| Its not possible with the stock European bike indicators they would need to be changed and new wiring done for the extra light filament to work | |

| Clive what is needed is a double filament bulb, like your stop tail(does two things). What you can do is get a pair of stop tail fitments and bulbs and replace your front indicator fitments, you will have make a new wire to add to the wiring, this wire will then light up the indicator bulb permanatley when wired into your lighting loom in the bucket, that is were the double filament comes in.As Jeff says it is an easy mod to do for a decent spanner man/woman to do.These fitments are usually off set pins so make sure you get the right bulbs. | |

| Good shout Alfie. Clive I bought Some bullet indicators a while back that have the double filament Here They are earthed by the way they connect when bolted on to the frame. They also have 2 additional wires coming from them, one is the live for the indicator filament & 1 is an earth for the other other filament. It would be simple if it was 2 lives and one earth but gets a bit more awkward as it is one live and 2 earth's. If you are prepared to wait a while (could be a few months) until I am feeling up to it, I will run a test and see how easily the other filament can be used as a running light as your suggestion has made me want to do this as well. Do not pay to get someone to do this if you are prepared to wait, as they are fekin rip of merchants and would certainly not be able to easily do it with the stock indicators. Maybe someone here is already in the know or can personally recommend a light they have tried & that would be great, otherwise good luck. | |

| Sounds like a good idea, I don't think you would have a major issue with the authorities if they noticed them either way | |

| Oiler if this is something you want to do.. it's fairly simple... first off download a copy of the 97-02 service manual (don't know if I can link it) but here it is LINKY
you will need to purchase K2 version of front signals (ebay I bought a set for under $60 USD shipping included)
when you have those just put them on ... connect the turn signal wires as normal.. and the Gr wire gets connected to your Br wire that runs your position lights..

| Rear's are single filament. turn's only... we are only required to have a single red lamp... some have swapped out the amber lens to red and made them into running/turn/brake with a module...
In USA running lights can only be red and signals can be either red or amber. Canada's Hi-way Traffic Act is a little uncles as it's according to provinces not a national.... I'm making some calls tomorrow to find out if running lights can me amber or if they have to be red...

| I've done this mod on my back end... (only had signals.) It's actually really easy to do. buy a set or two (if you want running lights in the back also) of front markers (from America or Canada) They come with the wiring already there... you will just need bulbs. Fronts... just screw them on one connecter with two wires is plug and go.. you will then have a gray wire connect that to the Orange/Blue tracer wire... (that's the fuse for running lights on NA bikes) presto running lights.. Rears require you swap the guts from the other set of fronts (blinker wires are P & P) and then you will have to run the gray wire to the O/Bl wire. | |
