| Well it sits damn tight...

| You will need to pry it upwards, I have an electrical wire cutter that has a kind of pronged end on it, kind of forked but yes it would be very awkward to just pull it up, but by squeezing it and by kind of getting under the needle as well it will be much easier. | |

| well I tried leverage and nothing... feels like it's one with the rod going down and I'll break the crap inside if I press any harder.... time to give up today I think | |

| You are the one there with the bike, if in doubt of its security it may be better to leave it rather than mess up. | |

| No screws round the back or anything? nothing visible as to how it's been fitted? | |
| | | MarcinG Valued VIP Member

 | Subject: Re: Speedo needle Sat Oct 12, 2013 10:06 pm | |
| nope...at the back there's only the coil that moves it.. I'm fairly sure it should pop off at the top but it looks like it's been glued. I think it sits on a round head. I managed a peek with a knife acting as mirror and I could see black head with an "X" reinforcement. Until I get a confirmation for other K2 user regardin taking it off, I think I'll park that idea for now. Better that than break the needle or mess up the coil. | |

| No problem Marcin, glad I could assist. By the way if you start making faces for members, I will be one of your first paying customers for the newer type of speedo, I know it will probably be slightly different to yours though so I will be happy to wait. | |

| Rain or no rain, I was eager to find out if the speedo works...so I went for a ride. It doesn't Needle doesn't even budge no matter how fast I go. I'm F.C.U.Ked Off to garage to try to reset it. Update## Well I have done some tests and I made few assumptions: 1. The speedo works on a basis of electric resistance 2. When ignition is turned on, the needle resets to where "0" is With that as a vague basis, I altered the needle positioning to sit at "0" with ignition on. When I spun the wheel the needle hesitates for a fraction of a sec, then goes up quickly to about 4, 5mph and increases steadily up to 10mph (I wasn't able to turn the wheel any faster by hand lol) I guess the next thing to do is to take some satnav, go for a ride and see how much of a discrepancy is between needle and what satnav says...alter, and test again. Lesson learned eh? | |

| Not sure what to say if you have aloud everything to be reset & the needle has been placed on so that it is after the stopper at the zero position and it is not slipping on the spline that moves. Sorry wish I could be of more assistance but it's never easy assisting from a distance. | |

| Should be fine...will test with satnav and see how it goes :] When in doubt: "Honest officer, the speedo was showing 10mph, not 100!!!" | |

| I really hope this all works out for you Marcin, I have always loved images of the grim reaper & have several tattoos on that theme on my arms. Really Really want it at some point & I am hoping one day you'll be the man for just that job. I have my fingers crossed for you. | |

| Marcin do you have any additional tips on getting the speedo clock face out on later models, no worries if you ain't I will do a picture & info thread myself for anyone wishing to do it with a 2009+ model at some point later when I attempt it. | |

| If it's anything like mine Dave, then I'd advise patience and being very careful with 2 screws that hold the speedo face. They're going into soft plastic and you're not supposed to tighten them almost at all, just screw in to the washer (mine got two, out of which 1 is spring washer) Almost threaded mine.
It needs to be just tight enough for the needle to cross over the top of screw. I did that error today actually - the screw was fairly tight but I pushed the needle on too much and speedo wouldn't go past it. | |

| Thanks Marcin, it will probably be next weekend I will be able to actually remove mine but with your honesty of possible problems/issues of which I am extremely thankful, I will be extremely careful. | |
