| Just hanging out at the Vol owners league and someone mentioned you folks, came to explore and here I be with my 03 Volusia and a happy hello to everyone. Although I'm in Arizona, I was born in Manchester, which you Brits know where that's at - Makes me a British Subject but not citizen. I can get a passport but for a stateless person... British Psychology 1001. | |

| Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm off to replace brake shoes, new Kuryakyn Iso Grips, attach front fender, change oil, adjust valves, and wash up the silver steed for a late afternoon ride to a far off movie theater for Thor. All in a day's fun with motorcycles. Locals always ask me what model Harley I'm riding | |

Bloody hell you got a busy afternoon in front of you I am most certainly not a harley enthusiast. I've owned many makes of bikes in my life, including harley. I wouldn't trade what I have for one. My next bike, if this one ever bites the dust, will be a Suzuki - why fix what ain't broke is my motto.

Born and bred in Manchester myself - a bit more rain than Arizona! I was on a bus in Las Vegas a few years ago in a 42 degree heatwave. The air con was struggling to keep up - I was nearly dying with the heat. I commented to a family how rediculously hot it was - they said well actually this is not too bad for us - we live in Arizona - at the time I thought that was probaby on the planet Mercury!! You are probably better off with a water cooled bike - I should think the air cooled Harleys struggle a bit.

I make hard use of a wet vest and often its safer to ride without helmet. I just got back from N California and keep thinking it would be nicer to live in an area with trees and cooler temps. Then I think of snow and rain and I remain here in the best riding weather in the world.

| I'm in Houston at this moment, 1300 miles from Phoenix, and another 1300 back..... The weather across the South U.S. is above 100F., toasty. Have to avoid high traffic areas so as to keep the bike moving. The Vols' holding up quite nicely, a little on the slow side taking off as I'm pulling a trailer filled with camping goodies. Its a trial run. I normally don't carry so much crap. Very minimalist. But it was nice to have a tent and air mattress in the rain the other night...... | |

| Made it home early this morning - tired and very satisfied. My hands, as usual are numb, my bones ache and I'm constantly dropping off to doze - I'm just about the happiest man I know:) | |

That must have been a hard journey! its 1200 miles each way, took both in 2.4 days each, plus had a lot of miles in Houston back and forth between two hospitals 32 miles apart twice daily, then seeing other friends and family members. I'm so totally exhausted at this point I haven't even looked at my bike for two days. About 3 weeks ago I'd gone up to Boulder Creek CA, about 900 miles both ways. I'm a long-distance rider by my riding history but I gotta tell you I'm getting older and it hurts afterwards.
