VZ 800 96>99+ exhaust swap?

Hi all i have got my VZ 92% complete and looking at the pipes i want to replace the full system but the pipes are impossible or aborbantly priced i was wondering if there was a way to swap the system for a 99>06 system (goes round the back of the block rather than under the bike .these systems are alot cheaper and more available i have been told i cant but i can not find any definative answers 
please help if you can

I could have sworn that I had read on here somewhere that later pipes will fit, better stop swearing though as I can't find the bloody info. So it may have been just in conversation or I am not remembering right. I will keep looking though & come back when or if I can find info that could help one way or the other.

I have just researched and found the answer be a yes it is compatible but I am unable to personally confirm this info.

Just been looking and found a guy that has swapped a 99 for a 97 but only someone saying that and no proof it happened

I've made that modification and it's a straight forward job. As long as you've got the new type of front pipes, you'll have to remove the toolbox but who needs it 

So new headers to go with the 99>06 pipes and all should be good .that is indeed good news thanks people for the help you have my gratitute
