| I don't think the injectors are serviceable items Jeff, I just use the expensive petrol every 4th fill up, it's supposed to have more cleaning agents in it? I also put Redex in a couple of times a year to keep things clean,. ps. love the "Unvalued member. thingy, cracked me up when I saw that | |

| Thanks for your speedy reply Sim, it sounds good advice.
Glad you like my little bit of humour with the self declared ranking, I wonder if a Gold and Silver star system will be introduced next. | |

| I think redex is the key, dave swears by it. Preventative medicine is always the best medicine | |

| I agree with the other posts, a fuel additive is all that is usually needed to keep them in tip top condition. Redex is allegedly good stuff. | |

| Many years ago I remember my father fuelling his car up, asking for two gallons and two shots I assume the shots were a type redex. | |

| Not sure but Jeff but I clearly remember going to the garage and filling up & asking for a shot at 25 to 1 but that was oil in the petrol rather than anything else. That was in the 2 stroke days when I never had a separate oil tank on my bike. | |

| This is the shots my father used to ask for, it was redex, the container was kept at the side of the petrol pump. | |

| So as you now know what the actual container used was can you tell us what was in it, I am presuming it wasn't oil as you have not mentioned my last post? | |

| No it wasn't oil for two stroke, is was redex.
I remember having to tell the pump attendant what mix I required in my early days of biking, when I had scooters and two stroke bikes without a separate oil tank.

| I am not saying it was oil for two strokes, I am just saying that filling up a two stroke is the last time I recall asking the petrol pump attendant for a shot. I have no idea what was used by older vehicles in in ways that are not current, I'm to young. Redex is just a make, in the same way that Ford, Samsung or Players is. It is just a company name that is responsible for many products. | |

| I assume it was redex fuel additive to keep the carburettor and fuelling in good order. | |

| Done my bit of research on what your dad got the attendant to add Jeff, via a phone call. The Redex that your dad had added to his fuel by the attendant was used in part as an upper cylinder lubricant, as the oils of yesteryear were not all that. It also helped stop carbon build up on the valves & more. So it had many similarities to the Redex fuel additive we use today. | |

| Well thanks for that, the car he had then was a Ford Prefect or Popular not too sure which so it probably needed all the help it could get. | |
