| Hi, i'm really hoping i can get some help on here. I'm fitting a 1400 rear end to my vs750, i have the rear wheel/swingarm/caliper etc, I know that the swingarm is approx 30mm wider so will have to be spaced out, the info i need is about the drive shaft, i have the original 750 shaft. I think the shaft U/J is longer on the 1400. I have read somewhere else that the 750/800 shaft is longer than the 1400, this is where it goes a bit fuzzy for me. I can probably measure up when it is all fitted and spaced out but I wondered whether anyone else had done this and already knows whether the shaft has to be shortened/lengthened etc as i think the 1400 swingarm is also 10mm longer? thanks | |

| Dave nobody on here has done the mod to a 750cc but as long as your not in a mighty big rush our gurus will give you a definitive answer but you might have to wait a few days for it maybe. They are some clever sods & they like a challenge, so if you can bear with them they will research the 750 to see if there are any extra differences but I very much doubt there is. I would of thought it would of been engine bore only Dave out of curiosity what year is your bike, not sure if they will need to know that or not but they might | |

| thanks mate, no problems with waiting, its a 1990, i've heard conflicting reports about differences in ratio from the 750 to 800, so i have no idea either whether the final drives/shafts even vary from the 750 to 800, never mind the 1400! I will make if fit whatever it takes lol, look forward to any information and help........ | |

| Sounds an interesting mod Dave Myself and a few others have got the VS1400 drive's fitted to our C/M800's to improve the gearing after following Mr Intruders lead, I wouldn't have thought there would be much difference between the VS 750/800 and 1400 other than gearing, If you have a browse through the part numbers you'll see what's the same and what's not? http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-motorcycle_model13053/ | |

| Can I ask why you want the 1400 "Rear end"? Final drive ratio?, Wheel size? | |

| yes mate, for the taller gearing, extra tyre width, rear disc brake, as i'm also going to fit a different front end altogether with a disc brake, and the 750 swingarm had been 'modded' and ruined..... | |

| just trying to work out a front now, i'd even considered ktm black usd'ers with a spoked supermoto front fatter tyre, and pre-loading the forks to make them a bit stiffer? | |

| I like your thinking Dave, hopefully someone comes in with the info you require very soon but if they don't, curiosity will kill the cat & I will have to know and will do a bit of part swap compatibility research with you. Nosey b'stard me. | |

| Just going back through your post's, I will have to check but off the top of my head the stock VS1400 drive is I believe approximately 12" long. I will again check but the Stock 800 drive is off the top of my head 17" long and we mill back the head & shoulder by about 3/16" of an inch to make it fit. Hope this helps a little. | |

| 12" and 17" long seems too much of a difference to me to be honest - 5"?, I think the 3/16" milling is for anyone fitting a 1400 rear hub to the 800 wheel rather than the whole rear end swap, but i could be wrong? | |

| Hello vinny, If my memory serves me well today I believe M800 forks are the same Diameter as the VZ 800 Marauder. But their about 79cm long fully extended The VZ800 Marauders front forks are about 82cm long fitted to the bike on the ground is. VZ 800 Marauder fork spacing is about 21.5cm but I don't know if the yokes will swop over. People have swapped VZ 800 Marauder front forks with M800`s and lowered the front by 2 inches and vise-versa so if you cannot find VZ800 Marauder forks M800 may do,, you can also get extension tubes for the forks if you want to make them even longer Hope this is of some help mate and good luck with your project.
P.S do you have any Fox`s Biscuits going spare.

| I put in the measurements of our 800 drive & the 1400 drive for comparisons to be made. As you have the 750 drive, what is the length of that? | |

| I have now spent several hours trawling the net and can't find anybody that has swapped the whole rear end as you want to. Fitting the VS1400 drive has been done a good few times with your VS 750/800 model so I would happily try that part myself. Saying that though I keep finding different information from people which would put me off encouraging anyone else, as there just seems to be no definitive info that I could find. Sorry but I will have to bow out of this one, as I can see no descent write up anywhere that gives me confidence with the mid range VS model swap. Good luck with it. | |

is this correct? seems like a big difference to me? As soon as i get the 750 shaft off, i'll post the length up..... Yeah, 1400 shaft off a VS is 12.5" the shaft off a VL/M 800 is 17" long, the VS range has a shorter swing arm than the VL/M range, you need to get the bike apart really, to compare what parts are compatible between the 750/800 to 1400 and what will require spacers or machining?

Hello. Could you tell me if there were any difficulties when installing the rear swingarm from vs 1400?

| First inconvenience is the removal of the excess aluminium casting in the wheel hub by a few mm. Preferably a grinder or dremel, as show on Photo. Next thing is the distance sleeve that needs to be added( 4mm smaller than the oryginal). Another thing is the 3 holes in the rocker ARM to which you screw the diff. The need to be enlarged outwards by obout 2mm. Any question write to priv... lukaszmlynarczyk@wp.pl This is super modification for this bike. I drove above 10 thousand km and everythink is ok.

| Pierwsza niedogodność to usunięcie nadmiaru aluminiowego odlewu w piaście koła o kilka mm. Przejechałem powyżej 10 tys km i wszystko w porządku. | |
