I recently changed front wheel brake pads, the mechanic suggested some brand fgv or tgv or something like that...i was wondering what brand you guys used and what feedback you have...i am not quite happy with the front brake now...

I used EBC pads, no problems and seem a lot better than stock ones.

I was thinking of changing my front pads before I even get started this spring. They are a little thin, and squeaked a bit the one time I was able to ride the bike since I bought it. Does anyone know anything negative about kevlar carbon pads? I found this ridiculous deal here in the states, but don't want to risk my life to save a buck.

Since I can't post a link here yet, you can check out the FA103 version for Intruders at d2moto.com

They are advertised as this:
[*]Volar Motorsport Kevlar Carbon Brake Pads
[*]Kevlar brake pads are designed for high performance riding experience
[*]Provide excellent stopping power without noise and rotor galling, even on polished rotors
[*]Fingertip control and strong, predictable brake response
[*]Material: Non-Sintered / Organic

For $7.00 US, it almost sounds too good to be true...

I'd be highly grateful for any info out there, before I order them

I will only fit Sintered Pads. Either EBC HH which are good pads or Ferodo ST pads (which I have just fitted on my bike and so far I am impressed). From what I gather the Sintered pads can improve braking by up to 10%-20%, which in my book is worth the extra they cost, if it means my bike will stop 2 feet shorter, that could be the difference between hitting something or not!!
The next thing on my 'to-do' list is replace the brake lines with Stainless braided ones, again to increase stopping power as they do not expand under pressure so transfer more force to the brakes, plus if you look in your service manual I think it states that the brake lines should be changed every 4 years!!

Thanks for the input guys. After researching all the friction and fade ratings, (found a really detailed chart explaining everything on the Community College of Baltimore County website, but can't post the link yet), it sounds like the HH is the way to go, with higher friction rating the least heat fade. I also came across someone stating this...  "previously i had ebc - never again - i find that they come away from the back plate and are rubbish...."  ,concerning the pad sintering process. However, this was the only negative comment I've seen yet. Luckily, (and sadly), I have a few weeks left before riding season, and don't have to rush. I did find the EBC HH FA103 sintered pads over here on Amazon for $27.50 US, (even cheaper than Summit Racing Equipment, which isn't far from me, and usually has the best prices on ANYTHING!), but it's more than 3 times what I saw the kevlar pads for, but from what you've said, probably worth the price, and definitely worth saving my life possibly, so I'll likely opt for those. Has anyone ever heard of the brand Volar Motorsport that sells those kevlar pads? They also had a replacement oil filter for half the price of most I've seen, but I think I'll trust that job to a proven name like Fram. Thanks again for the advice!

Now that I can post a link on here, I just wanted to throw these out there...

http://www.d2moto.com/products/1992-2004-suzuki-intruder-800-vs800gl-kevlar-carbon-front-brake-pads

This is the only place of heard of this Volar brand, and the price is certainly the lowest I've seen, (probably a good reason for that!).  I see EBC everywhere, so as I said; I'm going to spring the extra cash to go with them at everyone's recommendation. Thanks for the info fellas!

For anyone interested, I thought I'd post this link charting friction ratings and how they relate to brake pads, now that I can. Figured it may be helpful for anyone who had questions; like I did.
