| Came home tonight and I think the bulbs in my speedo have blown on my VX800, the ones in the rev counter are OK, the speedo was a bit dull last night so suspect one had already gone and now the other one has (I presume that the speedo has 2 bulbs).
Anyone know what bulbs they take and is it worthwhile upgrading to LED's? | |

| Hi Andrew, The Suzuki manual for the VX indicates the speedo bulb is 12v 3.4w as is the neutral light, oil pressure light & turn indicator (on dash panel). The rev counter light is specified as 12v 1,7w (2 pieces) The diagram of the clock assembly on page 7-16 appears to show a single light in each 'clock' The bulbs appear to be the standard panel lamp type that does not have a metal socket on the connector end - just a glass flange with wire contacts to one side. Hope that might help ..... could scan the diagram for you if it helps. I'd be open minded on the use of LEDs .... if you can find one that fits in the harness socket, without fouling anything else - then they should work - but from what I've seen the cheaper LEDs can be bigger than O/E bulbs - so they might not fit. I'd suggest you have both types on hand to preclude stripping down twice if LEDs don't fit ! Cheers Yam | |

| I have the manual as well and what got me scratching my head is as you said "The rev counter light is specified as 12v 1,7w (2 pieces). The diagram of the clock assembly on page 7-16 appears to show a single light in each 'clock'". Don't you just love 'accurate' information!! | |

| Yep - usual head scratcher .... but I'd get some 12v 3.4w panel bulbs. I find a motor factors is usually a better bet than say 'Halfords' if you have a decent MF nearby. I think they are about 30p each at an MF .... but packaged at Halfords they will be dearer ! My mate Steve has dabbled a lot with LED replacement bulbs ..... & that is why I mentioned the issue of variation in physical size - a bit of a 'suck it & see' exercise I'm afraid. Yam | |
