| A lovely looking bike Peter, how on earth are you going to improve on that? Had a ride on one quite a few years ago, very smooth bike, thanks for putting the photo up Sim, | |

| Thanks guy's, it had lain unused for many years in various garages & shed's till I dragged it out again 5 years ago & although it had been oiled up etc for some reason all the chrome wear had deteriorated badly to the extent that I had to make a decision on what to do, use it or do a ground up rebuild? Well a ground up was obviously the only way to go so it was stripped to every last nut & bolt & sent for stove enamelling in black but when I tried to sort the tanks & mudguards out the chrome was just too bad so I had the tank stripped chemically & painted plain black but unfortunately the de-chroming was not good enough & pit's etc were all over so I'm buying an Indian made one & it will be repainted in red & black, mudguards will be red & I have engine covers that will also be red. Dad bought the bike form a local guy, 100 yards away, for £5-00 back in 1968 & we rode it for a while then stored it, rode it etc etc till it was finally put to sleep 15 years ago. I am an assistant company director, unpaid & have 1 share in the company but get discounted parts, for the club spares scheme in Huncote in Leicester & have swapped out as much of the old nut's & bolts as possible as we sell these & many other parts so when it goes back on the road it will be the first time since it was built in 59 that it has been apart as much as it has been. I'm doing/have done a lot of mods that the club have developed over the years to improve the reliability of the engine, gearbox, clutch lights etc but on the outside it will still look original. There are so many things to say that I've done or put on that it would takes hours to explain so you'll have to take my word that it will be a better bike for all the work done to it just like our 800's you never seem to finish modifying things to make it better or into your bike... | |

| Sim thank you for putting the picture up. As I said I still cannot get my head round photo bucket but on the other hand I can do my bike work which I suppose makes up for being a numpty with technology & other things eh? When I feel like it I do a bit & leave it for sometime weeks as my head cannot do with any major problems, eg the alloy primary chain case I'm attempting to put on it. I've had it now for 23 years & only decided to use it this last year but it has been so much hassle that it is a wonder that it's still in one piece after nearly being thrown from one end of the shed to another more than once I can tell you but that's the price you pay for being the only person so far apart from the maker to actually fit one to a bike! After my nervous breakdown in December 2013 I have not had much energy to think about things but deciding to finish the rebuild I started would be some form of therapy which in a way has helped keep me sane & doing work on the 800 as well has helped so I hope that I can finish the bike this year & get back to some form of normality & also trying to start my own business up moving bikes will help also. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped with advice, shoulders to cry on, ears to listen etc etc here & outside the forum as I don't think I would be here today if some of you were not there for me, thank you... | |
