| Finished putting everything together last night, after a bit of a disaster - the release lever snapped off my bike lift - with the bike 18" in the air !!! My cous came to the rescue & we managed to "jiggle" it off using a scissor jack & a trolley jack. Cleaned the blue off the tyres this evening (hot, soapy water) & had a quick blast round the estate - just as it started snowing !! So this winter has seen Pipes chopped short - Sarah says' she can hear them from about a mile away - I've pointed out this is actually a safety feature. Whitewalls - not sure about them initially, but when I cleaned off the blue - spot-on, compliments the black & white paintwork Spoke "restoration" - I'll do a write-up on that at some point Re-spray front & rear guards, speedo housing, air filter cover, side panels & front indicator cover - they've been done in a satin black with a metal flake lacquer Seat re-covered in leather 3 line number plate (legal? - debatable, but not obviously illegal) New clutch with uprated springs Goodridge braided hose Re-spayed a few small parts in satin black that were either tatty or the wrong colour Had the petrol cap lock re-pined to match the ignition - must have had a replacement cap at some point & I hate carrying two keys A few general tidy up bits such as the neck cover The only thing to do now is the 1400 diff mod, then I reckon I've gone as far as I can - how many times have I said that !! " /> " I'll post some better photos when I get chance | |

| Thanks Rob, John & ardie- mind, you, it's in the process of another change at the moment - winter re-build. Just trying to find time to get all the bits back on !! Cillasman - are you referring to the three-line plate, or the side-mount ? A three-line plate could legally be displayed on a bike registered before 01.09.01 - anything after that date must display a two-line plate only. However, the caveat is that if a three-line plate is replaced, it must be replaced with a two-liner. But I suppose it would be down to the police to prove that you've swapped the plate. Have a read through the comments here & here. A side-mount is legal (I've been through two MOT's with mine on with no advisories) - the MOT regs do not state where it should be mounted. However, the MVSA manual states that the plate should be mounted at the most practicable rearmost position, so if you have a short mudguard, a side-mount is acceptable. At the end of the day, if the plate is clearly legible - not too small, or with an incorrect font, & you've not been riding like a tit, (in my experience) you'll be given leeway. Police usually tend to be more interested if your ride (or manner of riding) is dangerous. Looking forward to seeing how you progress | |
