My VX passed her MOT this morning with an advisory re the tyres (2mm tread depth), so they are OK at the moment but need replacing. What make have you got fitted and what size are they, looking at the rear size I do not think I can go any wider as it will catch the shaft. Are you happy with your choice. Just doing some background research but for now but I am also looking at options especially cost wise, I am not looking to get cheap Teflon tyres (non-stick) but also do not want to spend £200 on a set.

She has Pirelli Diablo Stadas 110/80/18 & 150/70/17 at the moment but they are about £180

Avon RoadRider AM26
Pirelli Sport Demon
Bridgestone BT-45

The 3 above are between £142 & £153 for a pair, to be honest any of the above will be better than the bike/me anyway.

I have Bridgestone BT021 on my bandit but not sure what sizes they come in though? I've just ordered a new set for £140 after 8000 miles of good service.

I spoke to someone I know about half an hour ago who does racetyres etc, he's going to see what he can sort for me, as I said any modern tyre will be better than me, I might end up with Avon RoadRiders as they seem to be a good all-round tyre and will not cost me a fortune. As the front tyre is an 18" it limits me to what I can get as its not that common, I can get some cracking deals on tyres for modern bikes but not for a 24year old VX :(

I am keeping the tyres exactly the same size, bugger all clearance now.

Its got a bit of rust on the swing arm, not much but enough to annoy me, so while the wheel is off I may take it out and re-spray it, check/grease the splines and change the oil.

Last year I switched my worn rear tyre for an Avon (not sure if it's a venom, or a roadrunner from memory). I instantly noticed the difference. Bike felt more sure footed. I'm not a hooligan, but even riding well within my comfort zone it felt better and smoother. Good luck.
