| I have been looking to put a USB charger on my handlebar so that I can charge my phone which either sits in my tank bag or in a waterproof handlebar mount, the ones I have seen on the web do not look very nice, it needs to be waterproof when the cable is plugged in as well which most of them are not. I currently use a USB battery pack in my tank bag but it is not really powerful enough when I use the satnav app on the phone. I use the Lidl Bluetooth Helmet kit with it, its OK but not brilliant (what do you expect for under £30!!).
What do you chaps use? and any chance of a photo with it installed?

| When I'm on my bike, phone is tucked up in pocket, never use satnav on the move, I get close to destination then check maps app for final few directions. The least distractions from the road the better ...saw,a,guy on a bmw gs almost rearend his traveling buddy cos he was engrossed in his satnav ... But if you have to have one make sure your usb charger is at least 2amp those wee cheap 1amp won't even keep the screen going ...also angle it downwards to help with rain run off ... | |

| That's what I have been doing but I am getting a bit fed up of stopping, taking gloves off........ for the sake of £10-£20 I think its worth it, my sat nav app works ok giving me audible directions via Bluetooth but occasionally its nice to see the map, plus after about an hour or so the battery goes flat on the phone and if I use the USB battery pack it lasts about 3hours. | |

| Yip I can understand that side of it, I got so fed up with rubbish phone battery life I ended up buying a,samsung note just for the better battery life ... I have a,dust and waterproof cover on my phone that I wouldn't hesitate to mount on my bars even in torrential raim. But I would mount the usb charging thingy behind /below my screen facing downwards and with any connections wrapped in selfvucanising tape hopefully not too visable either. It would be pretty neat if you could incorporate the usb port into or onto the phone mount.. | |

| Just ordered one of these:

I will fit an in-line fuse and may wire directly to the battery but I think it would be better to wire it through the ignition/relay, not sure yet.

| Good accessory Andrew, I've got two Aux ones on the Bandit, they come with an in line fuse fitted as well, (mine did), I fitted one just at the rear of the passengers legs so that I could leave things on charge whilst locked in the pannier when we leave the bike, it's also a good spot for when it's raining too, as not much water seems to get around that position. | |

Thinking about it, I think I will wire it into the ignition, as it will only be used to charge my phone it will draw less than an amp, if it was a normal 12v skt and used for heated gloves or something similar then I think I would wire it through a relay.
