| Has anyone done it. I'm sure how I feel about weight stuck onto my rim | |

| Try the beads, I haven't used them but they get good reviews. | |

| I've always thought they made sense but never got them. You put on new tires and as they break in the high spots wear off changing the weight. The balance then changes. These little guys are always rebalancing. Like I said, I think about it after I finish getting new tires mounted and balanced. Getting older does not make you smarter ! | |

| I didn't balance mine when I put the white walls on and I've had no issue's, when we did Worthy's new tyre's he put some puncture seal stuff in and it recommended removing the weights?, maybe it works the same way as the beads?. | |

| When I first bought the Katana back in '86, it had a helluv' wobble above 90. Took in to have the balance checked, the guy kept spinning it up & the weight-fix point kept changing. Totally mystified, he took the tyre off & we found that it had been filled with tyre slime. He emptied it out & tried again - balanced straight off. The assumption was that the slime was acting as a counter balance to rim weights & as it spun, the slime was moving around, changing the balance point.
Never got round to trying it the other way - removing the weights & just adding slime - too young & anxious to get back on the bike.
Never heard of balancing beads (trade name Dynabeads), but just had a quick Google & they seem to have mixed reviews. I'd be very interested in hearing from any members that have actually used them as I hate balancing weights on my rim/spokes as they're so goddam ugly | |
