| I think too much oil can come from the breather hose, when the bike is over filled. Ensure the full mark is reached only when the bike is fully vertical, not on side stand. | |

| I've checked the oil ken it's level on the mark when upright ,, it could have been in there for a while as I bought the bike late august last year and was told it had just been serviced by a dealer , but being me I serviced the bike in feb as bike had only done 700 miles since I got it and wanted to be sure it was done , on droping the oil it was like tar , the oil filter was rotting from the inside out ,,,, and I never checked the air filters until today , filters are clean but found the oil , so I think i'll have to keep an eye on it for a few miles and see what happens , to top it all I have had the waterpump recon'd by Suzuki dealer last week and he changed the oil again as when he took out mechanical bearing water got into oil ...ARGH , thanks ken | |

| Bloody hell, that's a bit of a story Doug. If you have now serviced the bike & self services are the only ones I trust, just sit back & keep an eye on her. Hopefully all should be fine, I would have thought so anyway. | |

| Hello dougr1411, It`s quite normal to have a little oil ( not swimming in it ) in the rear air filter box,,, there is probably a pipe at the bottom of the air filter case for the clag to drain away,,, some of the pipes have a twist type valve on the end that you can open and drain during service. | |

| I had this in my 04 VL800!
When I bought it. I took it for a service from Suzuki. The air filter was black! That was over 2 years ago now. I can't remember the exact cause but a spitting jet rings a bell. I was to monitor it and get back to them but they cleaned the jets and carbs and the next air filter change 5000 miles later was "clean" | |
