Hello. I just collected my brand new VZ800 this morning and whilst being over the moon with the bike there is something that's niggling at me.
It seemed like every single time I stopped in traffic the cooling fan came on. Is this normal for these bikes?

Lol. I should have said that I live in the North East of Scotland. Lucky if the temperature was 14 degrees on the way home and the fan came on every time I was stopped in traffic, even after a couple of minutes.

As already  said sounds petty normal (just to be 100% sure you could check the level of the coolant), nice looking bike enjoy and stay safe.

Thanks for the advice. I will keep an eye on it these next few days. Just wish that there was a temperature gauge.

Strangely I was thinking the opposite and wondering why my fan hasn't kicked in on a 100 mile run in hot weather. I was beginning to start checking out if it worked.

Nice wheels by the way..

If your not stuck in stationary traffic there's a good chance the fan will never kick in, when I fitted a Temperature Gauge to my Intruder the normal running temps were around mid 70's to 80's, it was only when in slow moving traffic the gauge showed into the 90's , the fan usually kicked in at around the 100/105 mark and then went off once it got  back to late 90's, the red overheat light comes on around the 120 mark so unless that lights up all is good.

What's stuck in traffic..? Ahh.. OK I only do parked up for the night or moving, that may explain it.

Seriously though I need to do a little search and read up on my radiator fluid.. It wouldn't surprise me if it's not been changed by previous owners..

Ditto... When I got my m800 it was a couple of years old but had only done 400 miles, and the bedding in that Sim mentions made the fan kick in lots. Have fun on your new toy Wink
