| Just been quoted £150 for crash bars for my VL800 (BOSS) by Custom Cruisers That's just for the front as I was told you can't get rears if the stock exhausts are fitted. Seemed a little steep to me and surprised there's no rear bars available for what is essentially a stock factory bike. Can anyone advise different? | |

| Look at Peters Bike, He has them on the rear and so does Martin (smart) both with stock zorsts, are the front ones from CC the Inch and a half ones? they're pricier, but do look very substantial | |

| If you don't want to spend that much there's cheap aftermarket ones on fleabay, might be a load of crap, but eg Link | |

| My front came from Custom Cruisers at Alfreton & were about £120- but the rears came from john at Metric Cruisers down south & are noted as NOT for VL800 BUT I had a pair to try from them & they fit spot on but you may have to use a few washers or a spacer to pack out at the top a fraction that's all. | |

Which translates to, "No you can't have them! you must find something cheaper", by the Boss

| "Redemption" is for "Sinners", John 20:17 Jesus said "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my Brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God'''. Now just go buy the bloody crash bars!, before I have a word with "Vic" the CofE Priest next door to overrule Deb's orders ps. CofE Priest? Next step up from a Rev apparently? a teacher of Vicars, we had this discussion whilst walking the dogs one night | |

| John I would NOT get an exhaust man to do the bars as the st/st pipe will be too thin & will simply bend if you have an off! You need thick wall tubing for crash bars my friend or lets put it this way, would you trust a exhaust pipe to protect your bike or a properly built & designed crash bar? Spend properly & they'll reward you in the end! | |

ps. CofE Priest? Next step up from a Rev apparently? a teacher of Vicars, we had this discussion whilst walking the dogs one night Bloody Hell - wouldn't have put you down as a God Botherer Sim! Story so far.... When Custom Cruisers get back to me with a price for the fronts bars plus powder coating plus postage and package, I'll buy them. I've phoned them 3 times and still not got a proper price from them. Also spoken to Metric Cruise who are e-mailing me some options. Depending what they come up with I may have to look at getting a fabricator/ pipe bender/ exhaust maker/ anyone else who can to make a set for the rear.

| Thanks for the links Sim. The fronts from Custom Cruisers are 1.5 inch diameter and look a little better than those on ebay. The rears shown don't do a lot for me - they seem to stick out a long way. My eldest son has a mate who is a fabricator and biker who thinks he could make a set up for me, so I'll buy the fronts from Custom Cruisers and bide my time for the rears until I can get this chap to have a look. | |

| 1.5 inch black powder coated front bars ordered from Custom Cruisers - downside 3 - 4 weeks delivery! Decided against the rears for the time being as I can't see any that look particularly nice, so may see my pipe fitter contact to design a pair. | |

| Nice. Now you need some some of those little pods for carrying stuff that fix on the crash bars (the ones we saw at nec). No idea what the proper name is! | |

| The 3-4 week delivery will be due to them being powder coated probably John?, CC's will get them in and then send them off for coating. | |

| Subject: Re: Crash Bars Wed Jan 13, 2016 10:19 pm | |
| Yeah, they only send them for coating when they have a few items -keeps the cost down, plus they don't have the 1.5 inch in stock until next week. Just have to hope I stay upright till then! | |
