Bar end removal help please!

I've usually no problem removing and refitting bar ends but for some reason I just can't get these buggers out! I loosened the screw about 3 turns not to lose things inside. The rubber expander starts to move about 1/4" but no matter how much I wiggle I can't seem to get either side out! I've unscrewed a couple more turns and dare not risk more. Where am I going wrong? WD 40 maybe?

Have you unscrewed the screw a bit and then tapped it in to release the expanding grommet? WD-40 might work if the rubbers stuck inside? I have a stock bar end weight with fitting attached if you need a picture to see the make up of them?.

Success. With a couple of bashes to push the screw, a couple of squirts of WD40 and a lot of wiggling out the throttle side came! Thanks Sim!
