| My stock pipe modification is nearly complete. Both plates have been removed by driving a very long flat screwdriver down the side of the plates to break the welds, enabling removal. The catalytic converter completely exposed has been drilled with two large holes giving a 'through' flow to the header pipe. Loud (not as much as unbaffled V&H but not far off). Good top end and very acceptable torque. May add 'lollipop' near the pipe opening to rectify small back pressure loss - watch this space! Both pipes now done. | |

| I bet that sounds good! I hope the MOT people never bring emission tests out on bikes | |

Maybe if we don't ride much, we will actually emit less than the goody goodies in cars who drive a lot! Alternatively ......... .

They won't... The test results would show that most bikes produce far less emissions than the small cars that are either tax exempt or super cheap to tax. Then they would have to applaud us rather than berate us, which is about as likely as threading a Dachsund through a japs eye at fifty paces

| I believe that small low emissions cars are going to hammered for tax in the near future. | |

| What gets me is how fantastic the stock pipes sound simply hollowed out yet new bikes are sold stuffed full of metal bits to make them sound wimpy. Most cruiser riders I know hanker after gutsy pipes. Can't help thinking more Intruders would be sold even if they were just a bit less restrictive. Yeah, yeah I know, 'regulations'....I'm not too sure about that cos take loud pipes for an MOT and you just get 'loud pipes' written on it - end of. Triumph offer an upgrade on their cruisers to make them louder so why do they sell the default silent fart versions? - to make money, that's why. Sure, not everyone likes loud pipes but to me it seems to go with the territory. If I wanted a bike as quiet as a scooter - easy; I'd buy a scooter. It's a bit like a boxer pulling punches, this sanitised custom bike thing. If it looks fierce - let it growl IMO. By the way, I'm not getting at members who prefer 'quiet' bikes, more manufacturers who encourage us to think it's the norm. The blurb in the Suzuki brochure talks about the Intruder's 'signature rumble' . | |
