| I've maybe got another 1000 miles left on the tyres so before the first MOT is due in August I'll be changing both tyres, I really want to put white wall tyres on. I've always been very keen on Maxxis and used them many times on different bikes I've owned, can anyone give me some advise on makes, performance, value for money etc, best suppliers would be useful as well, thanks in advance PS currently on 130/90/16 front & 170/80/15 rear. | |

| Maxxis are a fair bit cheaper though.

| I was chatting to the guy that does my bikes MOT's for me, if you decide to buy tyres from 'some bloke' the internet he told me to watch the manufacture date, as you do not know how they have been stored. But if you get them from a large company I would have thought it should be ok. I tried to find some guidelines on tyre age but did not come up with much, but the consensus is to consider changing a tyre between 4-6 years from date of manufacture and not when it was fitted. But I suppose it depends on how its been stored, if its in a garage on a carpet then I would have thought it would have survived a bit better than if its been stored on concrete outside. | |

The "Manufacture Date" is on the side wall like this for anyone that doesn't know, this tyre was made in 0315 (March 2015)

| Just fitted Maxxis white walls to the Intruder, also fitted some 4"chrome LED spotlamps. While I was in the mood I also fitted new Bridgestones to the Yamaha Diversion, also recently fitted a backbox and carrier, new tinted screen and a new seat cover.
PHOTOS TO FOLLOW SOON. | |

| How do you find the Maxxis tyes then John ? I need a new front after an MOT advisory and are looking at what white walls are available at the moment. So far Metzeler ME880, Continental CM1 & the Maxxis ME 6011 are about the only ones I can find | |

| Hi Mick, I've used 'Maxxis' on several bikes I've owned and always found them very good value for money but at the end of the day its down to personel choice, | |

| I've been running the Metz's for the last couple of seasons & found them to be great - I'm going to have to have quarter steels fitted to my boot heels as I've worn them down on cornering. Paid just over £200 for a pair delivered from Oponeo Tyres | |

| Mick, i would say no to the Continental CM1's i had them would never have again. now run Metz's 880 back & 888 front & will again. the Continental CM1's have the grip but not the life | |

Ultra's? never heard of them Mick? I think Metz latest version is the 888's now.

| Ah right ... "Ultra" is the 888, not 880.
Thanks Sim :-) | |

| Ordered a pair of 888 Ultra white walls today plus a front wheel bearing kit to get my Intruder back on the road again.
1 x MT90 B 16 for the front 1 x 180/70 B15 for the rear
Was going to order a 130/90-16 for the front but I spoke to Oponeo and they said that was a Radial tyre whilst the rear I was ordering was a Bias and they advised not mixing the two. Having said that they did not steer me toward the MT90 B 16, just said they couldn't supply a matched pair and it was down to me to order what I thought was right! It wasn't until I went on the Metzeler website that I found the MT90 which is a Bias type ( denoted by the B in the part number ). I don't know if it'll make any difference, but rather safe than sorry with tyres. Cost me an extra £18 though !!
