| I've read just about every thread here in the exhaust section. I'm thinking about doing something potentially drastic. I've got a 99 vz800 with those awful stock tampons for mufflers. The exhaust has some mods done by the p.o. it's had a weld repair effectively making the lower muffler permanent, and is at the very least debaffled. 1) I'd like to move the upper muffler forward. (Saw that here) 2) I'd like to cut the tapered end right off the stockers. To an outward slant, and then install lollipops to bring back the back pressure. Thoughts? Tips? Fails? Here's a stock photo I pulled from the Internet showing my current exhaust. | |

| This is what my exhaust looks like now, so I don't think any alteration I make will make it worse, short of destroying it mechanically. Sorry they're sideways | |

| I read something about putting "Glasspack's" inside the muffler once they been gutted and tapered to length, it gave quite a good deep rumble and brought the torque back apparently. | |

| Yeah, I'm loading the photos from my phone. They're right all the way until they post, then wham! Sideways and upside down.
I don't know how to reorient them. | |

| I striped down the stock exhaust, lost all the heat shields and mufflers, and only reused the the inner headers. Then with a $10 piece of 1 1\4 metal conduit, and a $5 90° bend of the same stuff welded up to the headers, tested for leaks, cut the slash, installed a lollipop baffle, painted, and wrapped them. Maybe $40 and they rock. I hope the photos load the right way, but here goes | |

| I added some 3.5cm adjustable baffles I picked up from ebay. They really took the hard slap out, but now they're a little to quiet. I'm gonna live with it for now. I'd rather ride than fiddle with them right now. | |
