| I know this isn't for an Intruder, but it's details of a home made luggage rack I knocked up which might give someone on a budget an idea. The starting point was a piece of Dibond (the type of aluminium composite they make signs out of). Rather handily I had a piece ever since the logo fell off our building at work! I wanted a kind of shield shape to match the tapered rear end of my bike, and to also take a design cue from the headlamp. So using a length of wood and a pencil as a compass, I drew arcs till I'd perfected the shape, then cut it out just using a jigsaw with a fine blade... I then got some fairly lightweight steel bar and cold bent it to shape as a support rail... Here's how the support frame sits on the backrest Simple angle brackets and large headed pop rivets joined the two together Gave the whole thing a couple of coats of peelcoat type paint And here it is on its maiden voyage today... | |

- Erm I don't want to get on your bad side Mal but it's a rear carrier/rack NOT a back rest is it
Well done on spotting the 'deliberate mistake' Pete! What thickness is the steel used as the support bar Mal? | |
