| I have been trying to find some spot lights to do a lightbar mod, Something similar to Farmboys Home grown light bar install but finding a set of spots with a suitable bracket or attachment for the threaded bar that it attaches to is easier said than done without importing, which I don't want to do. I have found a set of spots that I think will work well after the back section has been sprayed Black and the little black bracket at the bottom has been removed. The only difference that there will be between the excellent mod that farmboy has done is that I will set the indicators on a hanging bracket so that the are still facing outwards such as the picture below So before I buy these spots do you think they will be ok or not? I would spray the back section black, add a chrome decal to it and then clear coat it. I am not sure if these spots would look ok or not so any input would be really welcomed, whether it's posative or negative

| I have tried to find some as close in size as Farmboy did in his mod & the ones I found are 1" bigger, so you reckon they are to big then? It's so hard to find any that are suitable! Here is a pic of Farmboys | |

| If it's of any help, the size of lights I have were based on 1) depth so as to not interfere with the windshield mount and 2) chrome. I would have gone a bit larger were there suitable ones in-store at the time. There were slightly larger ones but were black only. These came from a Parts For Trucks retail dealership. My next stop was going to be a farm machinery supply/tractor dealer. | |

| Thanks Farmboy, I have been thinking about it and I reckon my main issue is finding suitable spots that have the double clamp type setup to attach to the threaded bar. the majority seem to have a single drop bolt for attachment to whatever, which is a pain as it reduces drastically which spots are available to this mod. The Grote lights that you have used really look right on the bike but no one in the UK seems to do them. I suppose I need to either find a very similar one to that so that it fit's in with the look of the staock headlight or just settle for something like the ones above which will probably be the case. | |

| Hi Dave personally (as I have already put some on my bike) 4" or 4.5" would be best, but remember the lens must be glass not plastic or composite, the reason I say this is because if you upgrade the bulbs, they will more than likely burn the lens. Most firms only put cheap bulbs in giving you a yellow dull light. There are loads out there to choose from, best value starts around £17 on ebay.A lot of the time they are simply for looks,so spend wisely.Dont forget to get a relay and a switch when you wire the them up,that way you can switch them on and off when you want,ie starting the bike. Also with all your accessorises it would be wise to put a spare fuse block in as I did to free some room in the battery compartment.Just to finish make sure you get the angle right, as your headlamp dips down to suit the rake of the forks, this will help not dazzle people.Hope this helps in some way. | |

| Remember these are referred to as security lights. Perhaps that is why it has a 2 piece mount that pivots for mounting say on the side of a cab/fender/box or other structure that requires good light and 12 volts? | |

| I think these ones that you have found would lokk ok as long as that is a glass lense in the front and not plastic, if all else fails | |
