| Hi,
Greetings to all....
New 2008 M800 owner here in Sussex UK, I have an issue with it after a day of ownership sadly, in that whilst changing the clutch cable the barrel adjuster bracket that's part of the crankcase, half of it has broken off. I've managed to get the clutch all adjusted up and tie wrapped the cable outer in such a way it's not putting strain on it in the direction to pop it out, it's working currently and staying in place but just wondered if anybody has had this happen and managed to fix it properly without a whole new engine/ crankcase ?
JB Weld or similar ?
All the best

| Paul & Whilst it is not 'ideal', you should be able to build up the bracket with 'plastic metal' type material. Some are better than others, and I have in the past used an epoxy paste filled with aluminium particles which had a good temperature range and enabled me to make a serviceable repair an aluminium car engine sump. It bracket you mention is not under a lot of load. you might be able to build it up by using washers as external 'formwork' & plastercene (or similar) to prevent the resin running out of the side (thickness of the bracket). You can use a dowel or bolt to maintain the hole - But wrap it in Sellotape or grease it to prevent it sticking to the resin ! - You can always clean it out after casting if a bit undersize. I know I shouldn'it really post the technical reply here - but without a thread to post to you might not have found my reply ! Hope that might help Yam | |
