Old Biker New to VS 800

HiYa from North Carolina, U.S.ofA.  Owning and riding since the 60's; presently have a Harley Electra Glide and have just bought a 2001 VS 800 (with only 4K miles on it) from my Brother In Law.  I'm picking it up in Virginia and riding it home on April 2nd.  That's 300 miles the bike and I should become well acquainted one with the other on the ride home.
