longer front wheel shaft?

Hi, newbie here, Just said hello and introduced myself in the introduction forum. 

I have a little question , that maybe someone can answer.

My Intruder is fitted with a 21 inch front wheel and wider yokes. The wheel shaft looks a little short though, can t insert the slip pin in place, so the shaft it not being fully tight. Can I buy a longer universal shaft ? of maybe from another model?

My bike is a 1986 vs 750 model but is fitted with an 800 model front wheel
