Hello from Colourful Colorado!

I recently bought a basket case 1998 VS800. This is my second VS800. Since the bike isn't worth a whole lot, I've been using aftermarket parts to get it up and running. I know, if I was really serious I'd be buying Suzuki parts! But $800 for an ignitor is ridiculous, don't you think? Anyway, I have the bike running but only on the rear cylinder. So I'm trouble shooting. I took out the plug and it looked wet, so I put in a fresh one. Now it hits every now and then. So I've ordered a coil. I think that's the problem, but it could still be that $800 ignitor. While I'm waiting for the coil to arrive, I've been looking at the ignitor. That expensive ignitor!! Worth more than the whole bike! I see that there are after market ignitors which are cheap for earlier models. The only difference that I can see is the connector. Has anyone ever tried to wire up an earlier model ignitor on a 1998 or later VS800? If this isn't the correct place to post this, let me know and I'll move it someplace else. I have a garage load of parts for your bike if you should need any thing Colorado,sounds like your on the right track with the coil or coil wire . you try switching the 2 coils and see if that cylinder hits then?
