Hiya folks looking to get a intruder someone has offered a swap a 2004 VL800 for my bike, want to find out what to look for when getting an intruder, any common problems, what sort of mileage are they capable of, any help would be appreciated.
Am really interested as it has forward controls which would help me, my hips keep siezing up on bikes with pegs in normal position

Hi Alistair.   These are fine bikes, but we are a bit biased on this forum, as you can imagine.
Keep the basic maintenance up, and they are fine.   Depends on what sort of riding you want to do, if you are into fast motorways for hours and hours, maybe not.  
I'd try and get a test ride on that bike first.
