Front wheel gap?

Hello all
I've recently put my bike back together (1997 VZ800) after a full re-build and noticed the forks have to much space at the bottom with the front wheel.its like its not pulling together with the spindle and the spindle is travelling to far into the fork. I've checked the parts and theres only one spacer (the flanged one) and then the worm drive on other side. very confused...any ideas?

I'm affriad not! I am baffled..

try putting that spindle in from opposite side see if theres more thread showing may be silly idea but you never knw it can be that obvious
