| Hello everyone,
Found your website googling overheating issues on a 2002 VL800. By overheating, I mean she's running a bit warm, the engine still works fine.
Anyway, I'm based in Maidstone Kent and I am the proud owner of a 2002 Suzuki Intruder Volusia VL800! I traded a 2017 SV650 for her and a little cash on top, as it is my dream bike and so far I'm loving riding her! She's black but has been heavily modified (and by modified, I mean butchered. He's attacked the flares with a Dremel and removed them) to become a "bobber". However, under my care I'm planning on restoring her original style and bringing her up to performance. I've got a lot of rust to take care of, some original parts to bolt back on and a fair bit of maintenance to do. I was told she was well looked after and after I've given her a once over, I've concluded this is not so.
Really proud to become a part of the Intruder riders! It's the achievement of one of my dreams and now consider myself a bit more of a biker. The SV650 was great but it became quite boring to ride. It started, it rode, I got off it. Usually nothing ever went wrong and it just performed but there was very little character to her. She looked nice but was kind of anonymous in looks and most people weren't that interested in looking at her. The Intruder on the other hand turns heads wherever it goes! Mostly because someone fitted Cobra exhausts to it.
Looking forward to talking with everyone! | |

| Welcome. Do a coolant change on the bike, take your time doing it. Cured my overheating. | |

| Why do you suspect it's overheating ? The fan should kick in around 105⁰, but unless you have a temperature gauge fitted, it's not easy to tell. As Badger says, do a coolant change - just make sure you get the correct coolant | |
